Meeting Format

Due to the current health condition, the SETAC Latin America Board made the difficult decision to go fully virtual for the SETAC Latin America 14th Biennial Meeting. The safety of our attendees is of utmost importance, and we are now planning a fully interactive virtual meeting with lots of live sessions and networking opportunities online. Please stay tuned for updates.

On-Demand Sessions

More than 300 presentations will be made available on-demand in the virtual space. The presentations will be organized per track and then by session. Participants will be able to search the program in advance to identify items of interest and bookmark them. Participants will also be able to create a personal schedule for the live events to be held during meeting ahead of time. At all times, anyone can search the presentations using the search function within the platform to view the authors, presenters, and the abstracts.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask the presenters detailed technical questions using textual Q&A boxes attached to the presentation or by email, video or audio chat should the author choose to post this information (e.g. their personal Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp information).

Live Keynote Presentations

The meeting will include thought-provoking and informative plenary presentations. These will be streamed via Zoom at a scheduled time and also recorded for later consumption.

Live Sessions Discussions

Live session discussions are moderated 50-minute discussions on an overarching topics of on-demand sessions. The goal of live session discussions is to stimulate deliberations and engagement about a specific scientific topic broadly. To get the most out of these session discussions, it is highly recommended to view the on-demand presentations of that session beforehand, so plan your viewing schedule accordingly.

Live Topical Mixers

These are live, informal meetings streamed via Zoom for participants who share interest in a particular topic. Join the conversations!

Fostering Connections

Participant profiles will be populated with name, affiliation, country, expertise and areas of interest, as provided during registration, to help attendees make meaningful connections. Profiles can be updated at any time during the live meeting. Participants will be able to see who is online and connect with peers directly. They can also seek out others by searching the profile  (name, affiliation, country or scientific area of interest).

Note about the platform: Attendees can have multiple textual chat boxes open at the same time (e.g., associated with presentations or group chats) but can only be streaming one live event at a time because the audio will be connected to it.
